ACHIEVING FOR LANGLEY CITY UNVEILS TEAM FOR CHANGE AT CITY HALL 

Delaney Mack to run for Mayor alongside five accomplished candidates for City Council 

LANGLEY CITY, B.C. Achieving for Langley City today announced its team for the October 17 municipal election, endorsing current City Councillor Delaney Mack for Mayor and five candidates for City Council. 

Built around the principle of “Independent Voices. Shared Purpose,” the team brings together residents with experience in small business, infrastructure, financial management, healthcare, engineering, local government and community service. 

“While knocking on doors, it’s clear residents love our community and don’t want its core character altered, but many want a change in leadership and focus. We agree,” said Mack. “Residents are feeling the pressure of rising taxes, growing public-safety concerns and major decisions being made without enough meaningful public input. Langley City needs leadership that will listen, respect different perspectives and get the basics right.” 

Mack grew up in Langley City and has owned a downtown small business, established in 2008. During her time on Council, she has advocated for reasonable tax increases, stronger investment in infrastructure, improved public safety, accessibility and responsible growth that allows existing residents and businesses to grow alongside the city. 

“I believe Langley City’s best days are still ahead of us, but reaching them will require a different approach at City Hall,” Mack said. “We need to spend carefully, plan properly and treat residents with respect, even when we disagree. That is the kind of leadership this team is prepared to offer.” 

Joining Mack are five candidates for City Council: 

● Andrew Flitton brings firsthand experience with roads, water systems and major public infrastructure projects, along with a background helping families make responsible financial decisions. He has also served Langley through Toastmasters, the Chamber of Commerce and the City’s Community Safety Awareness Committee. 

● Rick Orlando is a local mortgage broker and member of Langley City’s Socio-Economic Development Advisory Committee. He will bring professional 

financial knowledge and a focus on accountable budgeting, properly planned infrastructure and community-first decision-making. 

● Simi Rajput is an accomplished healthcare executive who has managed multi-million-dollar budgets and led teams across British Columbia and Alberta. A UBC and Cornell graduate, she also brings experience supporting people living with complex mental-health and substance-use challenges. She has also served as a director at BC Women’s and Children’s hospital. 

● Michael Hylands got his mechanical engineering degree from UBC and has 30 years of experience in manufacturing operations, process improvement, capital planning and budgeting. A Langley City resident of 26 years, he has volunteered extensively with local schools, minor sports, community events and the Langley Trappers. 

● Scott Thompson is a 27-year Langley City resident with more than 25 years of experience in local and regional government. His background includes public works, roads and water infrastructure, property negotiations and labour-management relations. 

Together, the team offers the practical experience needed to evaluate major projects, strengthen public safety, protect taxpayers and ensure growth is supported by the infrastructure Langley City needs. 

“This is not a group that will vote in lockstep,” Mack said. “Each candidate brings an independent perspective and the courage to ask difficult questions. But real change at City Hall doesn’t happen with one person. It takes a majority working together. Goals like more moderate tax increases, better budgeting and improved decision-making require a team. What unites us is a shared commitment to putting residents first and delivering better value from City Hall.” 

Achieving for Langley City will campaign on five central priorities: public safety, better basics, affordability, residents first and good governance. 

“Meaningful change takes more than one voice,” Mack added. “It takes a team prepared to work together, ask questions respectfully and remain focused on the people we are elected to serve. On October 17, Langley City residents will have the opportunity to choose that change.”
